This thermostat is a huge improvment over my old one. It is easy to . read. Large screen shows the temperature and the setting. It's got the features I wanted without being complicated to use. The price was very reasonable, better than those is home improvement stores! If you want a reliable, easy to read and adjust, easy to install thermostat, this is the one to purchase.
I bought this as a 7-day replacement for an existing 5-2 day, and I was disappointed to find out that it doesn't allow you to set the periods (wake, leave, return, sleep) for different times for heat and cool settings. I use this feature on my 5-2 day so I can turn off the AC when I wake up (I don't need it running when I'm getting ready for work) and use the "leave" period as an extra "return" period so I can set the temperature back one degree during the hottest period of the day, when the sun is streaming into my windows (they all face west). I'm disappointed that the 7-day version has fewer features than an older 5-2 day.
Great thermostat. Super easy to install and set up. It can be installed with only 4 wires: R, W, Y & G. If you only have those 4, you may need to connect the G wire to the C terminal (leaving the G terminal empty). If you have a C wire, this shouldn't be an issue. No jumpers are needed for the R, but if you have 2 R's there is a place for both of them... READ THE MANUAL BEFORE SETTING UP... I can't stress this enough. The initial setup is just a series of codes that correspond to text options in the manual. If you don't read it or at least have it handy, you'll have no idea which codes to choose. I have ZERO experience with HVAC or home wiring, but I was able to install it in about 30 minutes. Temperatures seem pretty accurate so far. My old one wasn't as accurate, so I always had to keep the AC on 68 in the summer to keep the house cool. Now 68 is way too cold (as it should be) so I can leave it on 72 or 73. The programming feature is a little tedious, but once you set it up it's good to go. I would recommend this thermostat to anyone looking to upgrade from an old, basic model.
