User reviews
I have been debating about buy or not a Gopro, I used a action can before from another brand, but it just didn't do the trick for me Having such a little camera with this image quality it's amazing, i love it so far, sound still a little disappointing but external mic will help, I've been use it for a couple of days since I got it in the mail. The hiper stability it actually pretty good, but not as "fantastic" like it is in the promo add. Sucks that such an expensive device doesn't come with that many good accessories, just basic stuff, the main holding case is a pain in the a** i bet a few have broke a nail trying to open this case, i have a 32gb 10 class Samsung SD card, gives me around 1hour on 4k60fps and 1080p60fps almost 2h (I rather use this setting) when you record in 4k the camera feels a little hot for my like, I don't really know why, but it gets hot pretty quickly, touch screen very responding, app with android doesn't really work that good but I am very new and begginer with this brand, files are pretty big, after certain amount of time for some reason it will split the clip (on 4k setting) why this happends I don't have any idea. The charging port it's so convenient and charge very fast, suck that doesn't include a power brick (I'm using my LG fast charging) Over all i like it a lot, I don't regret that much buying such an expensive Action Cam, seen at the competition with Xiaomi and YI with very affordable prices, but at the end everybody falls into the "Big Guys in the Game"
Camera is mounted on my Bell Vortex motorcycle helmet. Bought to document upcoming Colorado tour. The good: 1)The Hero 7 Black can be run without a battery for extended hours using a seperately purchased waterproof USB-c cable. 2)Hero programing allows for a default Loop mode so when set to Max will fill the HD card continuously then rewrite over the oldest files. 3)The items i've received were new and in excellent condition. The Bad: 1)The Hero 7 Black has software and hardware deficiencies. a)Apparently does not have a capacitor to allow time to shut down recording and save to the HD in event of power loss. b) Does not store all current configuration settings in eprom, therefore it loses it's recording status and zoom settings and has to be manually restarted when power is restored. c)There are conflicts with Loop mode and the Quick Capture option so if you use both it often will quit recording 10 seconds into the first file and the camera responds irradically then not restarting with the on/off button or record button but once out of 3 or four times. d)All software is up to date 1.07, new approved HD, Factory reset and reformatted. Works fine in normal video modes with capture option. Loop mode only works correctly if capture and voice commands are off then the Hero 7 must be turned off manually before unplugging power or on manually after repowering as file corruption will occur otherwise losing your last footage and as everyone knows in an accident that's the video you want most.
I've owned several of the GoPro models and the Hero 7 Black is the nest one, and that includes the Hero 8 Black (in my opinion). This is the last model that allows for quickly replacement of the lens screen ( from the Hero 5 black to the Hero 7 Black). This is the biggest mistake GoPro made with the Hero 8 Plus. The image quality and stabilization on the Hero 7 Black is about the best you can get in any action camera and them allowing you to shoot in a narrow shot for vlogging, in 4k, is awesome. I recommend getting a GoPro Hero 7 Black before they are all gone because people, like me, who knows the specs and downfalls of the Hero 8 Black will be going for the Hero 7 Black. And since they are no longer being made, so they can sell you they're 8 Black, they will be harder to find and my guess is that prices, use and new, will be rising too. I've made review videos of cheaper brand action cameras, and feel they have their place, but keep coming back to the GoPro because of it's image quality and image stabilization. Get one while you can.
