I have purchased 5 of these for my 3300 sq ft home. They seem to perform very well. After several months I've had to replace the filters. At $35 each it gets expensive. I have bought carbon prefilters at 4/$15 hoping to double the life of each filter. The outside filter gets dirty just toss it. Then you are back to the original filter that also has a carbon prefilter. I downgraded it 1 star because my wife doesn't like the large blue light around the top. As far as I know that doesn't have anything to do with the ultraviolet light in the back. It's just a warning indicator when the bulb goes bad. On high its moderately loud maybe like a window ac unit on high. I would definitely recommend this product with those two caveats in mind.
I purchased one of these as refurbished from the manufacturer, so that might have been the reason why it did not perform well, if at all. I used it for a week straight on high in a room the size they recommended. The filter was clean. And yet, the air did not change, and the allergies did not cease or get any better. I ended up returning it. The features that attracted me to it was that there was no ion option, the filter was very easy to clean, and it was indeed very quiet. But it did not do the job intended.
Works very well but a little louder than I thought it might be. Put it in my daughter's room [her dog stays in there with her, and it removed 95% of the dog odor in 24 hrs. Overall very pleased and will buy a couple more for other rooms. Would be even better if it oscillated.
